It has been claimed that the TV presenter we all love to hate “Queen of Mean” Ann Robinson will pay out £20 million to her former husband of 27 years John Penrose in a divorce settlement.
Ann Robinson, 63 and host of the Weakest link is said to keep an investment portfolio of four properties believed to be worth a £4 million, she is said to be worth a staggering £62 million, the couple announced they were parting on the grounds of “irreconcilable differences” 10 months ago.
It is understood that Mr Penrose, 61, a property developer who has been the driving force behind Miss Robinson’s career, will receive £16 million plus an investment property portfolio of four houses worth £4 million.
Mr Penrose who was Miss Robinson’s long-term business manager and husband is said to have helped propel The Weakest Link TV quiz game into a global brand, and turning Miss Robinson who started out as a newspaper reporter in the 1970’s into a multi-million pound star.
As her long-term business manager, he brokered lucrative contracts to write newspaper columns and helped to propel The Weakest Link TV quiz game into a global brand which has been sold to 46 countries.
BBC have recently signed Miss Robinson to a £6 million deal lasting two years for the top ranking TV show the Weakest link, as well as Outtake TV and Test the Nation, Robinson is one of the country’s highest paid presenters.
Normally when a couple break up after a long-term marriage the principle of equality of a 50/50 share, when it comes to dividing up assets each case is taken on its merits. Although it is said that exceptions are made when the court rules that one of the parties has made an exceptional contribution to the marriage, this could be the reason why Mr Penrose only got a third of her fortune and not half.
Mr Prenrose said that that they both will remain very good friends and the split was “amicable” and refuses to say any more, Miss Robinson and her agent both refused to comment. It said that their marriage came under pressure as Miss Robinson pursued her career in America and spend more and more time away.
