Book a Spa break and recover from your divorce

What better way to relieve the tension and stress from your divorce than to book yourself into a Spa hotel. We have listed below some of the more affordable Spas. Divorces are very costly, so we do not want to throw another huge bill on top. But one thing is for sure – you will feel a hell of a lot better after you visit the Spa, it will rejuvenate you, make you smile and hopefully take your mind off the divorce (even if only for the week).

It’s going to be 20% more expensive to travel in Europe if you are British this year, with the Pound being so poor. So how about trying Eastern Europe we have found them much more affordable, we suggest you try Slovenia, Although the food and service are not up to 5 star Western Standards the treatments are first class, although it is said that these European Spa hotels are improving considerably.

But for the best value you can’t beat Asia, If you were to go to Thailand for a week it would be cheaper for you to fly there surcharges and accommodation included than it would be to have a weekend in a 5-Star Spar in England and probably only be able to afford one treatment.

We have listed below a brief description of the best Spa Hotels. The following prices are all per person, for July/August, and based on sharing a twin room.

Bedruthan Steps Hotel
Mawagan Porth, north Cornwall www.bedruthan.com
This is luxury and good value all wrapped up into one. This is a 4 star hotel, set on the amazing coastline, the Spa and most of the 101 rooms all look over the Atlantic. 3-night break costs from £300 in July and September, rising to £384 in August. Prices include breakfast and dinner.

Lasko Health Spa
Slovenia www.slovenia.info
East European spas offer exceptionally good value. Often formerly part of state health services, they focus more on medical conditions than on beauty, so they tend to be clinical rather than glamorous. But they are proper spas, using local nutrient-rich thermal waters, which can be hugely beneficial for all sorts of ailments.
Seven nights, including flights, transfers, half board, a full medical check-up (suitable for anyone) and personalised treatments, cost about £826 from spa specialists Thermalia www.thermaliaspas.co.uk

Kamalaya Wellness Sanctuary & Holistic Spa
Koh Samui, Thailand www.kamalaya.com
A full-on spa destination and brilliant budget alternative to Thailand’s landmark Chiva-Som. Not a place to go with children – under-16s are banned – but on your own, to lose weight or detox or just relax for a week, it’s terrific, as long as you can bear the long journey there.
A seven-night stay costs about £1,999, including flights, transfers, full board, wellness consultation and daily treatments and activities such as yoga and tai chi, www.essentialescapes.com

7 Abama Golf & Spa Resort Tenerife www.ritzcarlton.com
The three-year-old Abama, now run by Ritz-Carlton, is currently the biggest and most lavish resort hotel in the whole of Spain, with 476 rooms, suites and villas, 10 restaurants, eight pools, a children’s club, state-of-the-art gym and, built around a massage garden, a splendid spa.
A four-night “Getaway Reconnect” b&b stay, excluding flights but including one dinner and a “Spa Experience – a circuit of the elaborate Roman, Turkish and Kneipp baths, which also feature an igloo with a snow-making machine – costs from £545.

Fortina Spa Resort
Malta www.hotelfortina.com
Fortina doesn’t have the most beautiful setting on the island, but it’s easy to get to and has an exceptionally enthusiastic, enterprising, health-mad owner, who has packed the resort’s four spas with equipment.
Some bedrooms have their own Power Plate machines, for instance, others – total thrill – their own infra-red detoxifying Dermalife machine, along with a Jacuzzi behind the bed (with magnetised mattress to improve sleep), sauna in the bathroom and private seawater plunge pool. Three mid-week nights in July with flights, transfers, all meals and two thalasso treatments cost from £519 (in a standard rather than a more exciting spa room).

So there you have it, I feel better just reading about the mini spa breaks. If you have stayed in any of the Spas listed, let us know about your experience.
