Property slump affects divorcing couples

I would if I could but I can’t, yes that unfortunately is what lot of ‘would be divorcees’ are saying, forced to live with the ex as they can’t sell the family home. The slump in the housing market is taking victims everywhere from Mortgage brokers, estate agents, property investors and of course separating couples.

Credit crisis is the new marriage counsellor according to research, as the house marketing collapsing is keeping couples together. But it is also sending couples to see marriage counsellors and therapists in a bid to keep their sanity whilst living with the Ex.

There have been some reports of couples splitting their house down the middle, with his and her cupboards and no entry bedrooms, this is all very well if you live in a big enough house and your relationship with your ex is at a stage where you can compromise, but this will not be viable for a lot of couples, some marriage counsellors have said that this set up has helped save some marriages as they were forced to live under the same roof and had to address issues they may have otherwise run away from.

A report from Savills Estate agents says that one in four properties sales valued between £2m and £4m were caused by divorce. There have also been stories how estate agents have found it hard to do the sales pitch on a potential buyer when the divorcing couples who are selling are in disagreement in selling the property, they said that some spouses have gone to all sorts of lengths to turn prospective buyers off when they do not want the sale.

For the typical British family who are stuck in the marital home for the super rich its seems a lot of spouses are rushing to the divorce courts before their partners wealth disappears due to the credit crunch.
