Divorce Gene found in men could wreck relationship

We have heard it all now – your husband was unfaithful because he had an unfaithful Gene! According to scientists they have discovered a “Divorce Gene” in men which has been linked to increase relationship breakdown.

It’s said by the researchers that this Gene determines how the brain responds to a chemical that is central to the bonding process between a man and a woman. The report showed that men who had a variant of the gene had the worse score on a questionnaire designed to work out how well they bond with their partner, and that they are more likely to have suffered difficulties in their marriage or relationship.

Could it be now that we are on our way to developing a drug that could target the male gene to prevent divorce? Scientists from Stockholm in Sweden seem to think we could one day. The research also showed that the women who were married to the men with the Gene variant was not completely happy in their marriage to those women married to the men without the genetic variant.

Scientists have stressed that the gene cannot predict with real accuracy how someone is likely to behave in a future relationship. So we don’t think at Divorce Diva that you should rush your next partner into the science labs for tests just yet!
