The embattled Harlem congressman, Rep. Charles Rangel this week withdrew a petition to divorce his wife who he has been married to for 40 years, he withdrew the petition just as jurors were about to be picked for a public trial.

Divorce seems to be the last thing Rep. Charles Rangel wants to think about right now as he has plenty of other things that concern’s him. It’s been said that the Ways and Means chairman cited Alma Rangel’s handling of his finances as one reason he may not have paid the correct taxes on his Dominican rental unit.

It seems likely that the divorce filing that has been going on since the beginning of 2007 disclosed details of Ragel’s income and net worth. Material similar to this was made public in the New York Post and New York Times and now Rangel is in the middle of a full financial investigation.
