Fraudster woman faces jail for stealing £2m after divorce

A glamorous 52-year-old divorced fraudster managed to fool Sotheby’s, Bonham’s, Christies and several fashion house into believing she was a French socialite and one of their typical affluent customers.
The Iranian-born divorcee Shahra Marsh charmed staff as she walked into their boutiques dripping in diamond and gold and wearing a £20,000 fur coat and managed to trick them into accepting cheques that later bounced.
The fraudster has been trialed at Southwark Crowd Court and denied a string of fraud charges, but on the sixth day she admitted her guilt before the jury.
Shahra’s criminal career started with the divorce from her property developer husband said detectives.
Marsh admitted 38 counts of obtaining property by deception, concealing property, fraud and theft and will be sentenced by Judge James Wadsworth QC on Thursday.
