Yesterday Cheryl Cole confirmed that she has split from her husband Ashley after a three-and-a-half-year marriage. Reports say that they now face a divorce battle as they divide up their estimated £22million fortune.

Apparently Ashley Cole has phoned Cheryl a number of times in a bid to try and save their marriage. A close friend of Cheryl said “this was a terrible decision for Cheryl to make, it’s the worst thing she’s ever had to do, but enough was enough”.

A source close to Ashley has said “he’s in a terrible state and blames their marriage problems on the fact that Cheryl’s mother Joan lives with them”.

Cheryl is now expected to take up Simon Cowell’s offer to appear on the U.S. version of The X Factor. What do you think the outcome will be?
