Divorce temple in Japan

Now we have heard of the saying flushing your marriage down the drain, so why not just flush it all down the toilet? In Japan that’s exactly what you can do at one temple.

The Mantokuji temple in central Gumma prefecture known as the “divorce temple” was originally an asylum for women who wanted to cut marital ties with their husbands.

This temple is now currently a museum providing the history of divorce and also a place to help people get rid of any bad karma, by flushing a piece of paper down the toilet. According to temple officials, most of the visitors still come to the temple with the purpose of breaking up with their husbands or partners.
