Couples of Twins or Triplets Are More likely to Divorce

According to reports couples of Twins or Triplets are more likely to divorce because of financial pressure, which not only includes the day-to-day needs but also school uniforms, holidays and birthdays. Research has shown that 28 per cent of parents of triplets and twins have divorced or separated compared with around 24 per cent of other families that have one baby.

The Twin and Multiple Births Association (TAMBA) found that couples with twins or triplets in most cases, report a drop in their family income because around 20% of mothers are less likely to return to work.

Because the extra cost of a multiple birth can put a strain on marriages, reports say that the new rules on fertility treatment aim to encourage single births. It’s claimed that there has been an increase over the past two years in multiple births of two or more children, especially among those having IVF.
